Recently in Jewellery Quarters Birmingham, we opened a new nepali restaurant. We were trying so hard to give it a completely different look and atmosphere compare to other Nepali restaurants in the UK. In others you can say we wanted to bring Nepal to UK. We were looking for a traditional but modern furniture and interior decoration.
On one of the night I went out with my family members to discuss what new should we bring here, so we came up with a place of the first gourmet Nepali restaurant in the UK.
Next few days few of the family members started to look for the venue and the location, and after few weeks we found the venue we wanted. The next step was to choose the restaurant furniture, even though we just we were new in this business, in our minds we knew what we wanted, so few of us flew to Nepal for traditional look and few of us shopped around in the UK. We also found a lot of useful things hidden in our garage, which we could use as d©cor at the restaurant.
We found this very hard to do, to look for contemporary furniture. We all knew that the first thing people look at is the food but look and feel, the atmosphere also does matter for the restaurant. Few tricks few of my family members learned from their previous careers in hospitality industry was when you’re arranging furniture, try to think ‘outside the box’. You need to use the decor is such a way that people find it interesting and more importantly they feel comfortable.
We were not afraid to experiment. We found what works best for us in our present situation. A simple point or tip to buy something new would be selecting items with versality in mind, will make the arrangement just right.
